What will I learn?

This course is suitable for anyone working in the health and social care sector. This extended module will provide participants knowledge of how health and social care services can be less accessible for D/deaf people and how seemingly small changes can make a significant improvement.

During the module we will look at 4 situations specific to health and social care.

  • Making and changing appointments
  • Booking in and waiting for appointments
  • During the appointment (including home visits)
  • Overnight stays

What does the course contain?

  • Engaging graphics and videos
  • Clear, concise and relevant information
  • Videos to illustrate how a D/deaf person experiences each of the healthcare situations outlined to the left. All of the examples come from real experiences from the D/deaf community and we have worked closely with our service users to ensure that the module accurately reflects their experiences.
  • A short quiz during the module to help you review what you have learnt
  • Valuable materials for you to take away to continue your learning and development
